JOSH CAFFE
Free World
‘Free World' is a genealogy of queer liberation. I've always loved the sound of new beat and wanted to explore this with an abstract queer perspective. A free world is what we aspire to live in, let's stay united and push forward'. Josh Caffe

Last year's Poppa Zesque was Josh Caffé's sexual liberation through the lens of an alter ego.
Free World, his first EP for Cormac's Polari label, finds enlightenment by rifling through costumes from musical eras past. The UK producer mentions his love for Belgian new beat in the release notes, and "Dress Up," the sleazy closer with goofy vocals, choral pads and wiggly
sub bass—think Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine—lives up to the idea.
Hiding behind voice effects and distortion, as well as the ghosts of queer history, Caffé finds even more room to express himself in these musical games of dress-up.

Rextilla
REXTILLA is a track from JOSH CAFFE that was a part of FABRIC SELECTS IV ‘IN PURSUIT OF PLEASURE’.
'In Pursuit of Pleasure' is a curation of music comprised of trans, non-binary, queer and LGBTQIA+ allies in the music community with an emphasis based around collaboration and community – featuring the more leftfield side of electronic and experimental music and released by fabric, the nightclub and record label based in East London. Of the proceeds, there will be a donation to the LGBTQIA+ charity ‘Rainbow Migration’ - a charity for those who seek asylum due to their sexual orientation where their welfare maybe at risk.
Drawing on her experiences of dance music and club culture, ‘Pleasure On My Mind’ written, produced and performed by Marie Davidson opens the latest V/A release which you can hear today – this track comes alongside luminaries such as London born Hyperdub mainstay Ikonika, featuring their own vocals. Josh Caffé, known for his work in the house and techno music scenes brings their infectious ear worm lyrics to the floor whilst Spanish born experimental composers Ana Quiroga and JASSS add their own stamp on what can be written for the late LATE afterparty, part apocalypse, part film score.
